The power of life and death is in the tongue. God spoke and all of creation came to be, and ALL He created was deemed good. And then the infernal invader, the enemy of all things good, slithered into creation; and sin, decay, and death entered Paradise.
The split tongue of the serpent, pronged by its abject iniquity, seeks to divide humanity. Like a poisonous venom, the drool of deadly words, rolls off of our tongues, often profusely and habitually, without consideration. Our words are frequently premeditated, for they evolve from our thoughts, before they ultimately deliver a deadly curse. Why do you think profanity is often referred to as curse words?
According to Merriam- Webster dictionary, the simple definition of the term profane is, " to treat a holy place ( or object) with great disrespect. " Furthermore, the term curse involves " a prayer or invocation for harm or injury to come upon one. " Need I say more?
My wise father throughout my life used to say, " If you cannot say anything nice, keep your mouth shut. " My heavenly Father states, in Sacred Scripture, regarding the tongue:
" With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings who are made in the likeness of God. "
How we love to praise and exult God, rightfully so, and simultaneously spin around cursing humanity. When we label people, particularly identifying them by their sins, over and over and over again, we generate the potential for and are spiritually responsible for, the continuity of such a condition to exist within them. Ultimately, it justifies our true evil intent, and reveals a violent lack of virtue within our souls. The darkness within becomes exposed, as we launch our hidden malevolence upon the targeted victim.
We calumniate their God given name, and assassinate their reputation. We insidiously detract from our neighbor's spiritual livelihood, as a gossip or tale bearer, and deem ourselves holy people. We breed illness, torment, bondage, and misfortune upon the human landscape, manifested under the deceitful guise of concern.
Why cannot the modern Christian heal the sick, deliver the captive, and raise the dead? Why? Until we fully comprehend, our personal disobedience and the danger of a deadly tongue, Christ cannot fully operate His promises within us. Until we learn and thus live to see people whole, healed, free, and well, we have not died sufficiently to self, to where Christ can be efficaciously present within.
Ask God to give you a noble perspective on humanity. Ask Him daily to see people as Jesus views them. Continue to speak words of prayer and praise, but make those same utterances over human beings created in HIS image and in HIS likeness. We are all God's creation, therefore we possess a Divine inheritance and an innate good. Commit to never speaking malefaction or death over or upon any human creature. When provoked remain silent. Always remember, a cursing and profane tongue, evolves from your own inner depravity. Seek healing, deliverance, and conversion of heart for your own soul.
